Today, a group of Hungarian business partners – otherwise a part of wider Hungarian delegation visiting Slovenia – met with representatives of Port of Koper.
We presented development plans of the port and talked about opportunities for increasing the throughput.
Hungary is the second most important hinterland market of Luka Koper, we handle about 2 million tonnes of Hungarian cargo annually. The most important part is the container throughput – Luka Koper has the largest market share in the Hungarian market.
Discussions included the railway connection between the port and the hinterland, especially the construction of additional railway track between Koper and Divača, which will enable doubling of the ports throughput. Representatives of Hungarian companies were particularly interested in the efficiency and speed of the train transfer to and from the port, which is a key factor of “just in time” logistics.
