The Vietnamese delegation, accompanied by a number of businessmen, was welcomed at the premises of the Škocjanski zatok Nature Reserve by Andrej Cah, Sales Director at the Port of Koper, who presented the Company’s operations, the advantages of using the Port of Koper and the Slovenian transport routes. The participants also discussed the possibility of establishing a direct shipping connection which would be an additional incentive to increase trade flows with Slovenia and the countries in the hinterland.

The Port of Koper and the Vietnamese ports are already connected by all major world shipping lines on the Far East-Mediterranean route, but for now only via transhipment ports in Asia. Currently, mainly containers are transhipped to and from Vietnam via the Port of Koper, but new opportunities are opening up for “Made in Vietnam” products. As a matter of fact, we have already transhipped the first test vehicle of the Vietnamese car brand VinFast at the Car Terminal. The electric vehicles, manufactured by the Vietnamese company, were initially exported to Canada and the United States, but now it is Europe’s turn – for which the Port of Koper is the entry point.

On the occasion, the guests visited the port of Koper and met with representatives of Slovenian logistics companies at the Vinakoper premises. There, they were addressed by Čedomir Bojanić, President of the Slovenian Association of Port Logistics Providers and Vice President of Slovenian Transport Association, and Gracijan Necmeskal, President of the Association of Maritime Transport Agencies, who presented the offer of the Slovenian associations to the Vietnamese guests.
